The name La Torrecilla literally translates to ‘The Little Tower’. It’s inspired not only by the name of the beach we’re on, but also by the historic 16th-century coastal watchtower known as the Atalaya de la Torrecilla (Little Tower Lookout), which once stood nearby and watched over this beautiful stretch of Mediterranean coastline. You can still see the ruins of it today if you take a walk down to the Mirador de La Torrecilla!

This popular beach stretches for about 300 metres and is bordered by the popular seafront viewing point, Mirador de la Torrecilla. This beautiful beachfront location makes it the perfect setting to enjoy the relaxed pace of life on the Costa del Sol, with a glass of wine in hand and a delicious Mediterranean meal in front of you!
Playa de La Torecilla is one of three Nerja beaches awarded the Q for Tourism Quality in June 2026, as the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE) recognised the area’s high standards. It has also earned the prestigious Blue Flag, an international award recognising the beach’s clean water, accessibility, and cleanliness!
